The home services market in Nigeria was fragmented and trust-deficient. Customers couldn't find reliable professionals, and skilled workers lacked access to consistent demand. Fix234 needed a platform that solved both sides of this marketplace.

Research & Discovery

We spent weeks shadowing service professionals and interviewing homeowners. The breakthrough: trust signals (verification, reviews, insurance) were more important than price for both sides of the market.

Design Approach

A progressive web app optimized for mobile-first usage in areas with intermittent connectivity. The booking flow was simplified to 3 steps. Service provider profiles emphasize verification badges and real customer reviews.

Architecture

Next.js PWA with offline-first capabilities, Express API layer, MongoDB for flexible service catalog, Redis for real-time booking availability, and Google Cloud for scalable infrastructure.

Engineering

We implemented a sophisticated matching algorithm, integrated local payment gateways (Paystack, Flutterwave), and built a robust review and dispute resolution system. The platform handles 1,000+ daily bookings.
